Chicago 2016 Olympic Committee Presents “Chicago Believes”
July 14, 2008, in Millennium Park
Festivities begin at 4:30 PM on the Great Lawn
Please join Mayor Richard M. Daley and Chicago 2016 Chairman and CEO Patrick G. Ryan at Millennium Park on Monday, July 14, to celebrate the International Olympic Committee’s selection of Chicago as a Candidate City, as well as to honor the Beijing Games and our U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams.
The evening will feature performances by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Latin music sensation the Bandoleros, Chicago tenor Rodrick Dixon (performing an original anthem for the bid), Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Cirque Shanghai and the Christ Universal Temple Ensemble.
The program will showcase historic Olympic moments that have a connection to Chicago and include a send-off to members of Team USA as they prepare for the Beijing Games.
Space for the first 7,000 spectators will be available for free on the Great Lawn of Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Demonstrations of Olympic and Paralympic sports, as well as a chance to meet many Olympians and Paralympians, will start at 4:30 PM. The performance begins at 8:00 PM.
