CHICAGO (September 13, 2006) - Chicago 2016 chairman and CEO Patrick J.
Ryan issued the following statement today regarding the Chicago City Council
Resolution supporting the Olympic Movement.
“This resolution is a clear sign of the unwavering, bipartisan support for
Chicago’s Olympic bid and shows that the city’s leadership will respect the ideals
and guidelines that have sustained the Olympic Movement over the years. It’s
another positive development in an incredibly exciting process.
“I want to thank the Mayor and the Council for their continued support of our
efforts and for recognizing both the hard and soft benefits the Games can bring
to our community. The quality of our City’s leadership is definitely a strong asset
for our bid. Their support, coupled with the excitement in the business
community, educational community, regional governments and the public-at-
large, is yet another example of the public-private cooperation that sets this city
apart and has produced so many great benefits for Chicago.”
